I'm so Lost
I put this down on my list when I was more adventurous about coming up with a theory. I came to the conclusion that I probably won't get it right. Therefore, I've decided to come up with a crazy, out there theory that in all actuality may have no possibility of being true.
Jacob was the captain of a ship that was out exploring the Pacific Ocean sometime in the 1600-1800s. They got caught on a tremendous tidal wave that left them in the middle of the island. The island had the powers to keep them alive forever. As random people made their way to the island, and there has been a constant battle for control. Everyone knows that their is something special about the island, but the ancient secrets have never been completely unlocked. Like the human condition people come and battle. There never is a clear winner, but it is progress. Jacob knows the conditions that have to come about to unlock the secrets of the island, but he knows that progress must take place, lives must be lost. This has always been the islands destiny. Just like it was always destiny for Sawyer, Juliet, Jack, Hurley, etc. to become part of the Dharma Initiative and create part of the island's history. Jacob also understood that his death would set off a massive battle in which the winner would finally unlock the secrets of the island. You see there isn't some big answer. It's not about what the island is or what its supposed to be. It's about the journey. The island has always had the destiny that will come about at the end of the season. I feel that the ending will somehow loop back to the beginning. Because time and space are fluid, and not only does the past inform the present, but the present seems to inform the past. Anyway, I know this isn't clear answers and a clear theory, but its the best that I could come up with. Thanks for your time.
