#208.Find the origin of the term “hemming and hawing”

Uh, um and huh?

I thought that hemming and hawing were ancient idioms, but it turns out they are real words dating back to the 1600s. According to the word detective, when they are put together they mean:

"that moment when our mouth stalls for time while our mind attempts to
assess the ramifications of our possible answers"

The word detective was really helpful. I might use him again.
